Milieukeur Foundation
'Stichting Milieukeur' is an independent foundation established in 1992 for the development and implementation of the ‘Milieukeur’, a reliable trademark for environmentally friendly products in the Netherlands. The foundation formulates environmental criteria for Milieukeur in cooperation with producers, trade, consumers, environmental organisations and the government. The foundation's objectives are to inform consumers about environmental products, to recognise producers that manufacture environmentally friendly products and to stimulate the development of these products.
The TOTAL ‘green’ eco foam extinguishers protect life and property as well as offering virtually no negative environmental impacts. Containing the fire fighting agent ‘Neufoam Eco’, the new extinguishers have been granted an independent sustainability certificate by the internationally recognised Milieukeur Ecolabel.
The Milieukeur was developed in 1992 by the Dutch Ecolabel Foundation and all product testing is carried out by independent certification organisations recognised by the Dutch Accreditation Council. Certified products must be deemed to be less damaging to the environment in comparison with similar products. The test determines the biodegradability of the foam.
Independent analysis of the Neufoam completed by Bureau Veritas Consumer Product Service Germany GmbH, concluded that there are no potentially harmful perfluorinate surfactents. Neufoam Eco almost completely biodegrades and has an extremely low environmental impact.
When test discharging foam extinguishers and disposing safely via the foul water system, the environmental impacts are significantly reduced when using the TOTAL Eco Foams.
