A shared commitment to customer service

Legal compliance in fire safety is a serious responsibility for any business owner and the family-owned Vindis Group is known for their commitment to quality and exceeding customer expectations. They consider the safe environment of their vehicle dealerships just as important. Founded in 1960 by Frank Vindis, a former WWII Czech Spitfire pilot, today they have a network of Audi, Bentley, ŠKODA, Volkswagen and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicle retailers, spanning six counties. In 2016, Vindis Group announced the launch of two new Ducati stores to its portfolio and also acquired Milton Keynes SEAT.

With the continued growth of the operation, Vindis were keen to work with a fire safety company they could trust to handle the complexities of fire safety on multiple sites. When they approached us, they were reassured to learn not only of our extensive experience with motor dealerships, but also our third party certification. This means we’ve been independently assessed against, and have passed, a variety of demanding standards. This also means we’re what’s termed (in the fire safety industry) a ‘competent’ fire safety supplier. When did our working partnership begin?

Our working partnership with Vindis Group began 11 years ago.  We first started by carrying out maintenance visits for their fire alarm system, emergency lights and fire extinguishers in accordance with the relevant British Standards. Since then, Fire Safety Services have continued to maintain and service all their fire safety equipment to keep them legally compliant.

Over the years, we’ve helped Vindis Group meet key fire safety objectives in a number of ways:

  • We ensure the service and maintenance visits are completed in the month they’re due. This helps reduce false alarms on fire alarm systems. For more information on what causes false alarms click here.
  • We agree part replacement spend limits which means Vindis Group can manage their budgets more effectively than before.
  • All emergency callout responses are monitored and reported.
  • Completion of remedial work is carried out according to an agreed schedule.
  • We maintain and update asset registers with details of all equipment on each of the 18 retail sites.

Today, we are still working successfully alongside Vindis Group to help them continually monitor and improve their fire safety record, and have developed a trusted and long term working relationship as advisors on all their fire safety needs. Our company values align perfectly; both organisations are dedicated to providing quality and exceptional customer service.

Our partnership is strategic which means we work as a team across all dealerships to plan ahead, responsibly and within the parameters of Vindis annual budgets. We identify areas of concern well in advance and develop maintenance and service schedules together, which means that nothing is left to chance and all work can be carried out at the convenience of the dealership managers.

We also work with Vindis Group on new builds and refurbishment of their dealerships, responding effectively to short and demanding timescales.
